McDonald’s Team’s Up with NMB48 for a 48-Piece McNugget Bucket
Japan truly a land of wonders not constrained by any boundaries on the imagination. Vending machines are pretty much every 20 feet, arcade halls can be 12-floors high, life-size statues of anime robots are in full-view and all things cute (or kawaii) decorate the country. Now we get to sit back and envy their McDonald’s as it is set to release a limited-time promotional 48-pieec McNugget bucket with the support of one of the country’s top idol groups, NMB48.
The group which currently has 16 number-one singles and three number-one albums, is based out of Niigata Prefecture and boasts (you guessed it) 48 members in total. Though I don’t completely understand why a bucket of 48 nuggets is necessary, this is not the first time pop idols have collaborated with fast-food giants. Back in 2012, kawaii powerhouse Kyary Pamyu Pamyu did several cute TV ads for KFC’s Crushers and NMB48 even did the same promotion back in 2015. If it’s good enough to bring back then I am guessing that sales were strong enough to justify a reboot.
It definitely will be a delight for fans and those living in Niigata as the bucket is only available in the Prefecture for a limited time. Unfortunately, Americans will be stuck with only 20-piece McNuggets for the time being. For all those fortunate enough to delight in an entire bucket of nuggets, itadakimasu!
