What might be one of the interactive, inventive, and just plain amazing idea’s I’ve come across while browsing the web, is Topshop’s real time catwalk customization. For their Topshop Unique SS13 show on Sunday, September 16th while watching a live-stream of the show, information about the looks each model is wearing is displayed on the screen, and can be customized and bought right on the page. Additionally, users can view the make-up each model has on, change the colors of each outfit, download music, and share images of the from the show with other users over Facebook and Twitter.
Such an idea creates and brings more user interaction with the Topshop brand, as those who are not able to attend an exclusive runway show are able to view it right from their computer. Customizable and easy-to-use features such as being able to change the colors of the clothes, instantly buy a look, or share content creates a more personalized and immerse experience for each person watching the show. It’s as if the Topshop created a personalized clothing collection just for you.
Additionally, the page is rich content that be shared through social-media outlets. For instance, users can share or download songs that are being played in the show, share content through Facebook, or send out messages on Twitter about the show or to Topshop’s Twitter page. By creating such an event, Topshop realizes the importance of having a strong social-media presence, by creating a page where content can be easily shared and customized.
It will be interesting to see if other fashion brands like H&M and Lacoste create event pages like Topshop’s, where people can watch a live show, choose their outfits, and share their favorites through social media channels. Unlike their competitors Topshop is being “Fashion Forward” on the web.
