This is definitely one of the most interesting and interactive promotions I’ve seen to promote a movie, and even makes me want to give it a go.
The purpose of the promotion or should I say “game” is simple. Simply purchase a Coke Zero from the digital vending machine and enter your name. Once your name has been entered you have 70 seconds to make it to the 6th platform and win movie tickets for the latest Bond film Skyfall. However, there are plenty of obstacles to impede your progress as you hastily try to win those exclusive tickets.
To my surprise the train station was filled with actors who try to slow you down as you try to get to the 6th platform. For instance there are joggers who block the escalator, a woman walking a half-dozen dogs blocks the stairs, a man selling oranges has his fruit fall all over the floor and a man sweeping the floor tries to get in your way.
It’s an innovative and fun way to get consumers excited about the movie and let them have a highly interactive and mostly importantly fun Bond “experience”. What I like about the promotion is that Coke incorporates several elements from the James Bond films into their campaign, which includes a chase scene, the Bond theme song and having to complete a difficult goal.
Hopefully, other notable or up-and-coming actions films can use the same style of promotion that Coke has used, to create a fun and highly interactive way to engage consumer and get them excited about a product.
