Hey! It’s a weird commercial that isn’t from Japan!

Already having made quite the splash online earlier in the month, Rio Mints commercial for their new flavor of gum definitely hits all the weird and bizarre targets to make you say “wtf?!”. What’s even more interesting is that this is from Hong Kong not Japan, which is known for absurd and weird commercials and advertisements.

Rather than surprise viewers, all the crazy weirdness is in the commercial from the beginning (the guy on the date with no shirt) and keeps on getting progressively stranger. Once his date gives him the gum it gets interesting, as that stuffed giraffe he brought along with him comes to life and starts licking his nipples and he enjoys chewing on his gum. Needless to say it can be a little off-putting, even though it’s fun to watch.

It it will be interesting to see whether or not Rio Mints will see its sales increase, with such bizarre ads, although other brands such as Skittles have had similarly weird ads and have not seen their sales dwindle.
