While watching Comedy Central late at night, I happen to see one of most bizarrely funny and interesting series of TV ads I’ve seen in awhile. These ads courtesy of Southern Comfort are both interesting to watch and have a very interesting tagline that can be applied over-and-over again.
The ad I saw features a multiple shots of man awkwardly dancing in a room. At first I had no idea what was being advertised, since it wasn’t obvious what product was being advertising due to the spareness in the commercial and funky background music that was playing. What shocked me at the end was that this was an ad for a well-known brand of liquor, and with the introduction of the tagline it all made sense: “Whatever’s Comfortable”. It was pure genius. Showing someone doing something that looks uncomfortable for the audience to watch and can happen in real-life, while saying to do it anyway because it feels “comfortable”. Hopefully, this campaign will continue for awhile since the ideas that can be implemented are near endless and produce hilarious results.
