Riding the CTA isn’t always a pleasant experience. There can be overcrowded cars, funky smells, and long waiting times just to get on. What can make these uncomfortable situations much worse is non-courteous and rude behavior from fellow passengers such as talking loudly on the phone, blocking one-side of the escalator, and leaving trash behind. For those that (somehow) don’t know how to exhibit courteous and polite behavior, the CTA is making sure that everyone riding knows what it is!
These ads have been plastered all over CTA cars and stops these past couple of weeks, and I hope they continue to remain a fixture of the CTA for the time-being. All sorts of rude and annoying behaviors are dramatized for comic effect (and they are actually quite humorous!). Posters that dramatize people getting on a CTA car as football players rushing in, standing on the wrong side of the escalator, and the one that sarcastically asks “Did Your Bag Pay for a Farecard Too?” all dramatize the constant rude and obnoxious behaviors me and countless others deal with on a daily basis.
That’s what makes this campaign so noteworthy and attention grabbing. It takes everyday experience that countless individuals face on a daily basis and presents them in humorous way that pokes fun at all the rude and obnoxious behaviors that shouldn’t be tolerated while riding the train. Whether or not people will take notice and the advice given remains to be seen…
